Excursion number Five! Michelle, Mo and I. We took the short drive to Reyes Creek Campground out Lockwood Valley from our place. Our local store, just two blocks from home, is the closet retail business to the campground now that the bar/restaurant right next to the campground is closed.
I visited years ago, a few times, for a burger and a pint, but had never been to the campground. It is wonderful.
Reyes Creek runs right through it and has a pretty healthy flow. I can only guess from what deep spring it springs from because we haven’t had much rain for the whole season but it was fresh, clean and cold.
We have now done overnights at three local-ish campgrounds and they were all top notch. I can only imagine that these were sacred places for the Native Americans since these havens of moisture are pretty much surrounded by dry pinon forests and scrub. I do love this country.
We tested our long trip equipment and it all works great. Michelle was pretty restless and woke many times so this equipment, yours truly, is pretty tired today!
Mo had the best time, making dog friends in all directions.
We have one more warm up excursion of three days before we set out for the Midwest in May!
